Spokesperson's Remarks｜China welcomes more members of U.S. Congress to visit

China welcomes more members of the Congress and American people from all walks of life to visit China so as to learn about China in a more objective way, and play a constructive role for the steady, sound and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Monday.

Guo made the remarks at a regular press conference when asked to comment on remarks U.S. Senator Steve Daines made in an interview on his hope to arrange for a bipartisan delegation of senators to visit China later this year, after David Perdue becomes the U.S. ambassador to China.

In response to another question about the next step in dialogue between the U.S. and China after Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Steve Daines on last Sunday and said that Beijing and Washington should choose dialogue over confrontation, Guo noted that China believes that the steady, sound and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations serves the common interests of both peoples and meets the extensive aspiration of the international community. (By Ma Ziqian/China Youth Daily)
