Scientists Develop Smart Fiber Thinner Than a Hair

Chinese researchers have developed a novel technique to create multifunctional electronic fibers thinner than a human hair, achieving a breakthrough in heterogeneous fiber electronics. The team from Xidian University's Hangzhou Institute designed a scalable liquid-phase process that integrates sensing, signal transmission and energy functions into a single fiber. The hair-thin fiber can be woven into fabrics for health monitoring, neural stimulation and wireless energy transfer.
