Data in China | 1.021 million cross-border trips! A new Hainan is taking shape after customs closure
Since the Hainan Free Trade Port officially launched island-wide customs closure operations on December 18, 2025, the effects of its policies have continued to unfold, with its opening-up advantages becoming increasingly visible.
Hainan authorities said that the free trade port has made a steady start and delivered notable results since customs closure began. By March 31, the province had recorded 1.021 million cross-border passenger trips, including 234,000 visa-free foreign arrivals, while registering 96,800 new market entities and posting 82.01 billion yuan in goods trade.
As the policies take effect, the ports are running more smoothly and the market is continuing to grow in vitality, resulting in a new Hainan rapidly taking shape after the customs closure.
