Data in China | International exhibits accounted for 65%! 6th CICPE in Hainan shows China's commitment to opening up
The sixth China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) was held in Hainan from April 13 to 18, marking the first edition of the event since the Hainan Free Trade Port began island-wide customs operations. Under the theme of "Opening Up Drives Global Consumption, Innovation Empowers A Better Life", this year's expo featured a main venue at the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, as well as two sub-venues in Sanya and Boao Lecheng dedicated to international yachts and international health consumption, respectively. The total exhibition area reached 143,000 square meters, up by 13,000 square meters from the previous edition.
As the largest consumer goods exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region, the expo attracted more than 3,400 brands from over 60 countries and regions. It showcased premium products and new offerings in emerging consumption sectors such as green consumption, healthy consumption, digital consumption and smart consumption. International exhibits accounted for 65 percent of the total, up by 20 percentage points from the previous edition.
Sheng Qiuping, Vice-Minister of commerce of China, said that the China International Consumer Products Expo had become a barometer of consumption upgrading. Over the past five years, the expo has closely followed the trend of consumption upgrading and the people's growing demand for a better life, helping to turn exhibits into commodities and trendy products into bestsellers.
He added that the expo had provided a fast track for premium global consumer goods to enter the Chinese market, while injecting fresh momentum into consumption upgrading and helping to unleash the potential of China's vast market.
